Starting as an experienced beginner is likely to be the right choice if you have experience in Spanish and are familiar with the basics, which doesn't necessarily mean that you are comfortable using them in the real world! It may even be appropriate if you have a significant background in another Latin-based language.

However, if you 1) have taken 3 to 4 years of high school Spanish, 2) did OK and 3) remember a few things, we would consider you beyond an experienced beginner, and you shouldn't (should not) be filling out this questionnaire.
